Day 7 – Boa Nova Tea House – Alvaro Siza

.

For the last day of Architecture week 2012, I’ll take a look at one of my favorite projects by Alvaro Siza: The Boa Nova Tea House. The building is built into the rocks by the shore in the town of Leça da Palmeira, Portgugal. This was one of Siza’s first built works. Siza spent weeks locating the stones on the site so he could position the building with minimal impact on the environment. I never seen a building as beautifully sited as this one. It almost appears to grow out of the landscape. Amazing really.
